Sad Day
Today is a very sad day. My son moved to Idaho today. Just up and moved. It would be one thing if he'd moved across town but he moved across the COUNTRY! He's never lived more than 10 miles from me. I'm not sure how I feel about it. He never really talked about it with me. He just said he was going and he went. He's sitting at the MSP International Airport right now waiting for his flight. He didn't ask me to take him to the airport but I think that would have been really tough on both of us. He's going to Nampa, a town west of Boise. I don't know who he's going out there to live with. He says he has a buddy there but then I heard from one of his friends that there's a girl out there too. I hope he's not going for the wrong reasons. But he's 21 and it's his life. He knows he can move home if he needs to. The first thing he needs to do is get a job out there. No one will let him live for free. He will discover the same problems he had here will be there. He moved in one duffel bag and one small carry on. Kind of sad that everything he has that he values fit into two bags. Basically he took clothes and his movies. That's it. Talk about starting fresh. I will miss him terribly but I won't miss his asking for money I don't have. I have to admit it's pretty gutsy. I don't know if I could have moved that far away from my family. I hope he stays safe. I know he doesn't use his head all the time. I think I'll sit here quietly for a while and contemplate life's changes.

It's Monday
It was a busy weekend for sure. Friday night Laura and I sat around until all hours drinking wine and laughing. Greg was tired and fell asleep & Josh had to work Saturday so he went to bed early. Boys. They're no fun sometimes. Saturday Greg picked up Kylee and we all went pumpkin shopping. It was a gorgeous day. Hung around the house all day and went out for chinese for dinner. Sunday we picked up Tatum. What a change! It was windy, cold and SNOWING! Greg made breakfast and then everyone carved pumpkins. The kids did a great job and made some wonderful jack-o-lanterns. Tatum didn't want to go home and declared she needs more 'dad time'. I wish it was possible for them to stay overnight on school nights but with Greg's work schedule it just can't be done right now. At least we have fun filled weekends when they are with him.

Made my day!
When I can't sleep I play on my computer. However, last night Greg spent the night so I didn't want to keep him awake (my computer is in my bedroom) so I went downstairs and watched TV. My new favorite people: MSNBC's Keith Olbermann & Rachel Maddow. What a HOOT!

Olbermann named Michele Bachmann as the 'World's Worst Person' in his countdown last night. Very funny! Turns out the RNC is pulling her ads from TV after her weekend 'Foot-In-Mouth' episode. And the the DNC is donating TONS of money to Elwyn Tinklenberg's campaign. Maddow had some choice and very funny things to say also but the funniest thing was she ran an audio clip from yesterday of Bachmann LIEING about what she said. Maddow made a comment to the effect - 'Michele, when you're in a hole - STOP DIGGING!' You had to see the clip and if I find it I'll post it.
The crazy old coot from Shakopee at the McCain rally in Lakeville last week keeps getting brought up too. Brian Williams, NBC, did an interview with McCain and Palin yesterday and he asked about it. Williams, however, said 'the woman in WI'. I thought oh good maybe people will forget that she's really from MN so we don't look so nuts here. No such luck. Williams corrected himself later and said she was from MN. Everytime that woman gets brought up, all I can see is that ratty hair of hers. Who leaves the house looking like that?? Watching the Uptake video I get scared because people like this still exist in this world! Uneducated spewing of garbage. She doesn't understand that Arab is a race and Muslim is a religion. Even after McCain corrected her she's still spewing her crap. Haven't seen it? Here ya go:
Also, yesterday, some vandals spray painted threatening things on 6 MN politicians homes. They were bipartisan in their attacks: Norm Coleman (R), Amy Klobuchar (D), John Kline (R), Jim Ramstad (R), Michele Bachmann (R) & Keith Ellison (D). I guess the fear mongering has now taken on physical form. This is what happens when you preach fear & hate. Eventually it will take on dangerous proportions.

Minnesotans are not this ignorant!
In the last few weeks people from my great state of Minnesota have made national headlines. Unfortunately, they've made Minnesota look really bad. For instance, the OLD lady from Shakopee at the McCain rally in Lakeville in October 10th. Even after McSame corrected her, that Obama ISN'T an Arab, she still insists that she has proof. How ignorant is this woman?? Her own candidate tells her it isn't true but she doesn't believe him. DUH!
And then there's Michele Bachman - Congresswoman from the 6th district. If you missed it or haven't heard about it - check out MSNBC - Hardball with Chris Mathews. Or just google her name on youtube. Can you say McCarthyism? Every time this bimbo opens her mouth she spews nothing but crap. I really don't know how the good people in that district voted her in instead of Patty Wetterling. I hope that they're all seriously embarrassed because she is a total embarrassment to this state. Time after time after time she says something stupid and then says "I was misunderstood". No, Michele we understand quite well - you're a total idiot! Clueless, out of touch, unintelligent. Anyone remember her at Bush's inauguration?? Hanging on him? That was our first national embarrassment. And it's been all downhill from there. She believes that we should drill in ANWR because the animals like the heat the pipeline gives off! These are critters that live in the ARCTIC and that's how they like it - COLD. If they didn't, they'd migrate to warmer climes. Anyone who doesn't believe exactly what she does has now been labeled Anti-American. If that were the case then much of the US population must be Anti-American. Wow, that would make me Anti-American. Hardly. I love my country and what it stands for - democracy. McCarthyism is dead and should be left that way. Vote for her opponent, Elwin Tinklenberg.
I'd also like these candidates to define 'socialism'. I'm sure that most of the American public can't give a good definition except to say 'communism'. It's much more complicated than that. But without actually saying 'communism' that's what the McSame / Appaulin party would like you to believe that's what Obama wants. This is NOT what Obama will do.

Tired of Politics
I'm really tired of political ads. I believe that insecure people put others down to make themselves look better. Well, IMO this is true for the political campaigns happening right now. I won't mince words - I'm an Obama Backer. I'm very tired of hearing slurs and slams that have already been debunked. I had a 12 year old tell me she'd vote for McCain because Obama is Muslim. I asked her where she heard that and she said it was on the Internet. I tried to explain to her that Obama is a Christian just like she is and that people who can't win on their merits have to lie about their opponent. I'm not sure I got through but I did send her a link to some factual websites that addressed this specific issue. If a 12 year old believes this crap I can't imagine how many uninformed adults believe it.
I'm also tired of hearing the scare tactics. They may have worked 4 years ago with Dubya but the American public isn't buying this crap this time around. Obama was EIGHT YEARS OLD when Ayers founded the Weather Underground. By the time he met Ayers, he was a respected college professor. Obama isn't 'paling around with terrorists' as Palin would like you to believe. If the repubs want dirt there's plenty on them (Troopergate & The Keating 5). The only difference is you won't see Obama throwing it. He's respectful and above the low handed attacks.
America needs to be seen as a leader in the global arena and that won't happen until the world trusts the person we have as chief.
